A new industry bottle from O-I New Zealand
O-I New Zealand proudly launches The Infinite Bottle, a new small serve industry bottle designed for the booming healthy-focused highly innovative NAB market.
A specially commissioned bottle, created by the students at Auckland’s Unitec Institute of Technology, The Infinite bottle is designed to reflect New Zealand’s growing commitment to sustainability and healthy lifestyles.
O-I, along with the New Zealand Beverage Council (NZBC) invited the students at Auckland’s Unitec Institute of Technology to design a bottle that captures the imagination and inspire brand owners, reflected premium positioning in a small single serve and demonstrated a technical understanding of the requirements to manufacture a glass bottle.
Twelve product design students from Unitec were engaged in the project. Using an innovation checklist, representatives from O-I NZ, NZBC and brand agency, VOICE were tasked with selecting the winning concept by student, Jamie Cowie.
The new concept bottle for brand owners and drinks producers with no limits to the power of their imagination. The Infinite Bottle design references traditional apothecary and herbalist jars with a distinctly refined 21st century interpretation.
The 250ml size is market-ready, meeting consumer demand for small single serves of the new health elixirs that come in all flavours and colours and look and taste so much better in glass.
O-I New Zealand General Manager, Paul Vine was pleased to again partner with Unitec and the local industry to drive demand for glass packaging.
“This is the second year we have partnered with Unitec and the industry to create demand for glass packaging. The talent demonstrated by the students in understanding the market and articulating that in the form of a bottle was nothing short of impressive.
“We are excited for the possibilities The Infinite Bottle can bring to our market. The concept bottle clearly demonstrates the unique infinite value of glass, its recyclability, its beauty and its purity. We can’t wait to see filled products on the shelves in the future.” Paul said.
